Tapas in Frederick with two relaxed Foodies…
Laura & Nathan love to go out and visit new places and try new things, especially restaurants :). They wanted their engagement photography to reflect their interests in food & wine and their personalities. I’ll start with a traditional portrait and move to more candid, photojournalistic images…
Isabella’s in Frederick was the perfect location as it has character, natural lighting and most importantly they offer tapas (a wide variety of small Spanish savory dishes served with drinks). Laura and Nathan ordered a nice spread of things to try, the asparagus sticks with aioli dipping sauce are pretty amazing…
Nathan proposed to Laura during a wine-tasting trip in California, he surprised her by popping the question at the Talbott Winery courtyard. It was nice to incorporate a little wine into their engagement photos. Cheers!!!
Nathan shared that one of the qualities he loves most about Laura is that she is always willing to listen, that she’s willing to go anywhere and try anything. I like this image of Laura listening to Nathan for that reason and also b/c of the visual interest of all the reflections and even Spanish art with a bullfighter in the background… it feels natural and sweet just like these two 😉

Laura shared that she loves how Nathan is so much fun to be around and always wants to make sure everyone is having a good time, Laura has the most joyful laugh, just from looking at this photo I can almost hear it through the restaurant window…
Laura shared that she appreciates how Nathan is hardworking and that he doesn’t let “little things” get to him. He is deeply loyal and caring and will do anything for the important people in his life. I feel like this photo really captures the loyal, caring aspects well…
Following tapas at Isabellas, Laura & Nathan went for a walk along the C&O Canal in downtown Frederick. It was a little chilly and windy (15 mph guys, which is a lot), but they didn’t let it get to them, they enjoyed the scenery and their time together, laughed it off and had fun…
One reason they were drawn to my photography was because of my unique perspective and creativity, they also wanted something with a modern touch. Here you can see the canal and the brick walk and their shadows, I like the vibrant colors here (the water is reflecting the bright blue sky). I like the lines, contrast and geometry of it all.
Here Nathan & Laura are silhouetted against the C&O Canal, the coloring of everything in this photo reminds me a bit of Venice (one of my personal favorite trips ever). I like how close and happy Laura & Nathan are here– and Laura’s wind blown curls…
