Creative, colorful engagement photography at Lebanon Valley College with two alums…
Michael and Brianna contacted me looking for unique images that would offer creative perspectives (she loves silhouettes like the photo above) and also be crisp, clear and colorful.
They were also looking for a custom tailored photography experience that would really capture their relationship, personalities and the places that are important to them.
They chose to work with yours truly 😉 and met me at the bridge on LVC’s campus, it was the perfect location for their engagement photography session!
Brianna & Mike met while attending college at Lebanon Valley College their Junior year.
Michael played football for LVC, so fall was always his favorite season, Brianna loves all of the vibrant colors of the fall foliage.
Here are some of those saturated tones, photographed in a more traditional portrait…
Here are those same vibrant leaves in a more candid photo that captures their fun-loving, spontaneous sides:
It was also important to Brianna to capture their love and romance.
I feel like this photograph of Michael whispering to Brianna in the sunlight beneath a canopy of golden leaves does just that…
Brianna wore the Pandora bracelet that Michael bought for her on her 21st birthday. You can see different charms on it that relate to their lives together as well as her stunning halo cut diamond ring– I like how you can really see the sparkle!
We walked all over LVC campus together, but this space, near the peace garden was my favorite.
I know how much Brianna likes color and I thought these red berried really “popped” in the photo.
I photographed all of those vibrant colors that they love so much as well as the classic LVC scenery like the pond and peace garden. They shared that over the years it was an important place to both of them. They have many photographs from formals and graduation etc that were taken there over the years.
It only seemed fitting to take some of thier engagement and wedding photos there as well. (Yes, they are getting married on Lebanon Valley College’s campus in 2016)!
Here is a more creative photo, a reflection of Brianna & Mike in the pond. If you look closely you can see the little goldfish and the ripples they are creating:
Maybe it’s the lighting, the stone archway of LVC’s spring house or Brianna’s blond ringlets but this feels a little like a fairy tale to me:
I was very drawn to the unique, high-contrast shadows created on the footbridge and chose to fill the frame of the photograph with those interesting lines and mostly silhouette Brianna & Mike.
She loves silhouettes and said this bridge is a real Lebanon Valley College icon. You can see the football stadium where she would go to see Mike play from this vantage point:
They chose to end thier engagement photography session at Memorial Lake to capture their mutual love of boating. While boating started out as a hobby of Michael’s, Brianna fell in love with it too while they were dating. Mike even proposed when they were visiting Lake George together.
This would be a photo session with Brianna & Mike without a piggie back ride (friends and family can attest to this), I also like the golden orbs of light in the background but yet the couple is in sharp focus in the foreground:
Sunset over the pond– here is one more silhoette for you, Brianna!
Brianna & Mike, I hope this eclectic mix of creative & colorful photos was exactly what you were looking for :).
Thank you for introducing me to Lebanon Valley College! It is a gorgeous campus and a perefect location for your engagement and wedding photography! I’m looking forward to seeing you again in 2016!!!
