Annapolis Westin, St Mary’s, & Fado Wedding Photographer: Emily & Andrew

A breathtaking Annapolis parish wedding followed by a relaxed pub reception– absolutely *timeless*.

Through the wedding planning process, Emily and Andrew prioritized simplicity and staying true to themselves & their day fit them perfectly.  The ceremony was held at the breathtaking St Mary’s Parish of Annapolis.  Their vows were exchanged under it’s grand flying buttresses and celestial murals.
The reception was at Fado Irish Pub, a relaxed and fun environment that gave a nod to their Irish heritage.  Food included fish & chips, shepherd’s pies, etc and tables were decorated with fresh florals in mint julip vases.
The day started at the Westin in Annapolis, where Emily’s Maggie Sottero dress hung in the window of her suite.  She and her bridesmaids wore matching robes with navy embroidery.  Here she is sitting and admiring her elegant florals for a moment before she is dressed…

For the bridal portraits, I was inspired by the timeless, elegant feel and the simple elegance of her wedding day.   I used more traditional lighting for her portrait which I could imagine lasting the test of time…

I went super chic with the ladies portraits gaining  inspiration from Vogue and Vanity fair.  😉

Time to meet the handsome groom, Andrew,  with his wit, intelligence, and honest, straight-forward style.   This Baltimore attorney won Emily’s heart with his kindness and manners (giving her his coat when it started to rain when they first met).  You can read more of their story and view their engagement photos here.

Andrew enjoys keeping in touch with friends–  his groomsmen are childhood friends, highschool and college friends as well as friends from law school and family members.  Emily said one of the things she really admires about Andrew is his ability to maintain meaningful relationships throughout his life.

Andrew’s pocketwatch is a family heirloom that belonged to his great grandfather, the scene etched in gold is one from London.  Speaking of time, it’s almost time to go to the church!  🙂

The moment Emily was escorted down the aisle took everyone’s breath away, (I love how you can see their expressions above), but my favorite expression was Andrew’s.   When the organ began to play he excitedly looked to the back of the church to see her, the sight of her seemed almost too much to take in– he composed himself for a moment and watched her walk towards him with the most loving expression on his face.

I love this moment– the beauty of the parish and couple are shown, as well as the guests surrounding them with their blessings.  They all raised their hands and prayed for the couple, such a sweet touch.  This image captures the couple being developed in love and support of their family and friends.

Fresh florals in mint julep vases and menus greeted guests at the table– everything was sweet, simple, timeless and so pretty.  Keeping with the relaxed Irish pub atmosphere, heavy hors devours and drinks were served all night long, Emily’s father welcomed the family to the reception and gave a very touching speech…

Many of the wedding guests were from Baltimore and die-hard Raven’s fans, so when they realized the big playoff game was going to take place during their reception, they knew the guests would appreciate watching the ravens play and it really fit the atmosphere that Emily & Andrew were going for– a relaxing time out at the pub with family and friends.  Hanging out and watching the Ravens play would be exactly the type of laid back activity that Emily & Andrew’s friends enjoy.
Here is a collage of a few images from the evening, I think it really captures the atmosphere of the evening… people socializing, dancing, and having fun at this sweet gathering.  My favorite shot is probably Emily in her wedding dress and Raven’s hat, so perfect 😉
